Documents
- National ID
- SHA details and the phone registered with SHA
- Mother & Child Health (antenatal) booklet
- Any test results or ultrasound reports
For mum
- 2–3 lessos or kangas
- Maternity pads (a big pack) and comfortable underwear
- A nightdress or loose clothes that open at the front for breastfeeding
- A warm sweater and socks
- Toiletries, a towel, slippers
- Snacks and water
For baby
- 3–4 baby vests and outfits
- Hat, socks and mittens
- 2–3 warm shawls or blankets
- Nappies and a soft cloth for cleaning
- An outfit for going home
Plan the trip
- Save two people's numbers for night-time transport
- Keep some money or M-Pesa balance for emergencies
- Know your route to the facility, day and night
