Short answer: Sleep under an insecticide-treated net every night, all year, tuck it in under the mattress, repair holes quickly, prioritise children and pregnant women, and clear standing water around your home.
- Every night, every season. Mosquitoes bite from dusk to dawn, even when it's cold.
- Tuck it in. Tuck the edges under the mattress so mosquitoes can't get in.
- Repair holes. Sew or tie small holes before they grow.
- Protect the most vulnerable first. Pregnant women and children under five are most at risk of severe malaria.
- Clear standing water. Empty containers, old tyres and blocked drains where mosquitoes breed.
